Es una conserva dulce elaborada a partir de trozos de chilacayote, una variedad de calabaza, cocidos en un jarabe de azúcar hasta que adquieren una textura cristalizada y un sabor dulce.
Se consume principalmente como un dulce, ya sea solo como bocadillo o como ingrediente en postres y repostería. También puede añadirse a mezclas de frutas secas o servirse como acompañamiento de quesos.
Almacenamiento
Debe almacenarse en un lugar fresco y seco, preferiblemente en un recipiente hermético para evitar que se endurezcan o se peguen. También se puede refrigerar para prolongar su vida útil.
País de Origen
Originario de la cocina mexicana y centroamericana, donde el chilacayote es una calabaza muy apreciada y se utiliza en una variedad de platos y recetas.
