    Las alubias son las semillas feculentas, maduras y secas extraídas de las vainas que crecen en las plantas leguminosas. Las alubias tienen forma de vaina alargada cuyo interior guarda entre cuatro y seis semillas, la legumbre propiamente dicha utilizada para el consumo. Estas pueden ser de colores, formas y tamaños muy variados, generalmente arriñonadas o redondeadas, y de piel lisa cuando son frescas.

    Las alubias, como todas las legumbres, son un alimento nutricionalmente muy completo y saludable, con beneficios para todas las edades y perfectamente compatibles, y más que recomendables, también en dietas de control de peso.
