El cardamomo en vaina es la cápsula seca y aromática de la planta de cardamomo, Elettaria cardamomum. Tiene un aroma fuerte y un sabor dulce y especiado, con notas cítricas y mentoladas.
Se utiliza en una variedad de platos, especialmente en la cocina india, árabe y escandinava. Las vainas se pueden triturar y agregar enteras a curries, arroces, postres y bebidas, o se pueden abrir para liberar las semillas, que se pueden moler y usar como especia.
Almacenamiento
Debe almacenarse en un lugar fresco, seco y oscuro, preferiblemente en un recipiente hermético para protegerlo de la humedad y la luz.
Se mantendrá fresco durante varios meses si se almacena adecuadamente.
País de Origen
El cardamomo es nativo de la India y se cultiva en otros países tropicales, incluyendo Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Tanzania y Nepal.
